Thank you for all the hard work the committee are putting into this project. We really must make sure that the Memorial is erected at the Station. It is very important to those of us who have relatives connected to the disaster. Well done and good luck to everyone involved. 27 February 2007.

We need more funds in order to make sure that the Memorial is erected in time for the 65th anniversay in March 2008. Please send your cheques made payable to 'Stairway to Heaven Memorial Trust' to the address on the home page as soon as possible. Many thanks Sandra Brind (Hon. Sec) [2007-02-28]

I attended the memorial service on Saturday 3rd March and it was very moving. My Dad's stepbrother Richard Coleman sadly died in the disaster. Although I did not know him I feel that all these people deserve a fitting memorial to their memory. [07 March 2007]

My wife, Margaret, is the youngest survivor / or the youngest survivor of a relative that died in this tradegy. Her mother's name was Ellen Jane Ridgway, and she was 28 years old when she died. My wife was but 6 months old. We have seen the current memorial, and unless you know where to look, you wouldn't find it. My wife was the youngest of 6 children that received on their 21st birthday, money from the trust fund set up by Bethnal Council. A memorial will help her find some closure on a traumatic event that has materially effected her life. [14 March 2007]

Back in 1974 I was working on the East London Advertiser and wrote a page feature on the tube disaster. As far as I know, that was the first time it had been made public for many years. I had a difficult time finding information and the Government were not forthcoming on what had happened. Compensation was paltry. Bernie Kopps read that article and went on to write a TV play about the situation. I wish the Appeal well. It is a wonderful way to give some decent memory to those innocent people who died. My Dad (Tom Chandler) lost his Mum and sister on that night. My Dad was there but was lifted to safety. My Mum said that although he lived in Bethnal Green for a number of years afterwards he never went down the Bethnal Green Underground again. [24 April 2007]

Alf Morris's Campaign is necessary so that future generations can be reminded of the courage shown by East London's people during the blitz. Many local families lost their loved ones during this cruel and bitter War and they will always be remembered. Please support this worthy cause, 'Lest We Forget' [26 April 2007]
